100 Years German National Library (DNB)
With 100 events at its locations in Leipzig and Frankfurt/ Main the German National Library celebrates its 100 years of existence between March and October 2012. The foundation treaty was signed on Oct. 3rd, 1912 in Leipzig. With the crowdsourcing platform Wir sind ein Jahrgang! users are invited to an online join-in activity! The realisation of the application was done by TimeKontor.

TankNotStrom
The Goal
is the creation
of a management and logistics system that is
capable of ensuring both the fuel
supply for emergency
power generators and the refueling
of vehicles of the emergency response forces during a long lasting power outage. This should enable the prolonged operation of critical infrastructures,
such as Hospitals, water supply,
transportation systems and the emergency response forces.
The first focus is to analyze the
supply chain of energy and fuel of
critical infrastructures and emergency response forces and their
emergency power generators and
fuel requirements. To ensure the refueling of emergency power generators
in case of a crisis, an
independent monitoring system is developed
based on a
stand-alone communications solution.
The project will
also propose a solution to provide gas stations with emergency power generator inlets.
“TankNotStrom” is a research
project in the Framework "Research
for Civil Security"
by the German Research ministry.

GreenIT Cockpit
The goal is to research and develop an organization-wide business process-oriented management cockpit for the energy efficiency of ICT in an organization. Based on a system of key performance indicators and a performance measurement system, the system should create a basis for Operational Business Intelligence in the context of Green IT. The management cockpit enables organizations to aggregate information on the energy efficiency of ICT from different systems (data centre, network infrastructure and peripherals such as thin clients and desktops, printers, scanners, etc.). The approach is domain-and business-process oriented. The collected data will be aggregated and prepared in an easily interpretable form for strategic planning and improvement of ICT-related energy efficiency. The visualization of this information is done through the cockpit, for example, in the form of traffic lights, scales or speedometers to make specific and immediate improvement and optimization potential visible. “GreenIT cockpit” is a research project in the framework "Energy-efficient ICT for SMEs, management and housing - IT2Green" by the German Ministry of economics (BMWi).

GreenIT DC-Benchmarking
“GreenIT data center benchmarking” is the first
neutral benchmarking tool, that shows the specific energy and cost saving
potential in data centers. By comparison with similar data centers and
analysis of best practices, IT managers gain a detailed overview of ways to
optimize their systems. The online based comparison tool can be applied to data
centers of any type and size, registration is free. The basic set of data for
the GreenIT data center benchmarking deviates from a scientific analysis of
thirty data centers realized by the Technical University of Berlin. Since April 2010, the stock in the benchmarking tool
has grown to more than 100 data centers with more than 79,000 servers. It was
awarded by the German Federal Government as "Flagship Project 2010”.
In the benchmarking report,
each value is compared in detail, interpreted and presented graphically in
relation to the results of similar data centers. The performance measures are
identified in the areas of power density, energy density, climate control, data
management and availability.

Raucherentwöhnung Squin
SQUIN merges the
latest innovations in the field of serious games & social communities with
the state-of-the-art smoking cessation treatments. The result is an omnipresent
cessation group-training, accessible and available 24/7 via internet computer
or Smartphone.
Thus, everyone with
internet access now is able to utilize a professional smoking cessation
program. With this low-threshold approach, SQUIN improves the public health
infrastructure and supply significantly.
Psychologists and
smoking-cessation Coaches supervise the development as well as the operation of
SQUIN.
TimeKontor
AG developed this groundbreaking online-
and Smartphone-based social-serious-game for smoking cessation. The development
was funded by the Berlin
Investment Bank (IBB) and awarded by the Berlin Government Initiative
“Project Future". In 2012 the first release for use with a German health insurance company was published.

Feuerwhere
The
research project “FeuerWhere” has
the goal of indoor-localization of firefighters in
dangerous environment and without the need of existing infrastructure.
Besides
the basic research on radio
waves, the design and development of wireless nodes and their interaction,
the goal is to solve the problems
of localization and transmitting
vital-parameters of the emergency personnel.
The system should be tested, especially in hazardous environments and unstable
conditions. The solution
will result in a
demonstrator that will be tested under real
conditions. It should monitor the condition and structure
of a rescue operation using mobile sensor
nodes and visualize and record the vital
parameters and location of each rescue team member in the building by
sensor nodes and provide
the information the Mission
Control.
This project was funded
by the German ministry of research and education in the
Framework program "Autonomous Networked Sensor Systems (mst-AVS)".

StrokeNet
The overall objective of the
joint project StrokeNet (funded by the Zukunftsfonds of the State of Berlin) is
the first installation of a stroke network with stationary and mobile
components. With the development of the
stroke network a system is designed to optimize the care of stroke patients in
an emergency already on site and in the ambulance by the use of information and
communication technologies and contribute to reducing potential secondary
damages. With StrokeNET the basis for a
qualitative improvement will be established by prompt diagnostics and treatment
of acute stroke patients and be implemented exemplarily, while new mobile media
are used and these are integrated into self-organizing, intelligent
transmission networks.
StrokeNet focuses on the
mobile communication with the ambulance, the transfer of relevant medical data
in real time and the establishment of the necessary network services and data
communication between the partners in the treatment of stroke.
